Taranaki will be home to the world’s best female surfers in April 2010 when the ASP Women’s World ‘Dream’ Tour comes to New Zealand for the first time ever.
A new Women’s Surf Festival will showcase Taranaki’s iconic surf breaks from 10-18 April 2010, and the Dream Tour event will be the highlight, and give local surfer and current world number 3 Paige Hareb the chance to compete on her home breaks.
The Women’s Surf Festival incorporating the women’s World Championship Tour will showcase the natural rugged beauty and phenomenon that is Taranaki’s Surf Highway 45, to the world. In addition to adding an ASP Women’s World Tour event to the 2010 schedule, Taranaki will also host an ASP Grade-3 Girl’s Pro Junior, boasting the richest prize purse on the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Girl’s Series, AUD $8,000.
