Taranaki is an events epicentre with top international artists, performers, entertainers and sportspeople descend on the region throughout the year.

The dynamic events programme contributes to what North & South magazine has labeled the most vibrant community in the country. Home to many unique natural stages, parks and sporting venues, Taranaki will leave a lasting memory on every event-goer. Regular major events in Taranaki include:
 
  • Yarrows Round the Mountain Cycle Challenge – this 150km circumnavigation of Mt Taranaki can be tackled solo or as part of a team (January)
  • Taranaki Wine and Food Festival – celebrate the best of Taranaki (February)
  • WOMAD – the World of Music and Dance brings a three-day multi-cultural festival to the iconic TSB Bowl of Brooklands (March)
  • New Plymouth to Mooloolaba Solo Trans Tasman Yacht Race – intrepid singlehanded race across the Tasman every four years (April) 
  • Taranaki Festival of the Arts – pioneering arts festival held every two years (July/August)
  • Taranaki Wave Classic – the last of the winter swells fuel this full-on windsurfing event (October)
  • Taranaki Rhododendron and Garden Festival – celebrate the spring blooms at Taranaki's gardens each year (October - November)
  • Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival (October - November)
  • TSB Bank Festival of Lights – beautiful Pukekura Park comes alive after dark with special events and lighting effects (December – February)
 
It's not hard to see why Taranaki has often been referred to as the 'Events Capital of New Zealand.'
