Rugby World Cup 2011 is forecast to attract at least 60,000 and perhaps as many as 85,000 intenrational visitors to New Zealand, and more than $500 million into the national economy.
It will also present an unparalleled opportunity to showcase New Zealand to a global television audience of over four billion. Visitors will not just watch Rugby – they will eat, drink, and experience our culture, heritage and adventures.
There are opportunities for Taranaki businesses to be part of this – through providing distinctive and quality tourism products or services, supply goods or services to RWC 2011 or its licence holders, become an Official Sponsor or Official Supplier, or get involved with creating or enhancing the Tournament’s legacy.
Specific regional programmes will be rolled out ahead of the Tournament, and for more information on working with Rugby World Cup 2011, visit the sites listed below.
To ensure the Tournament is a success, a number of rules will apply to Rugby World Cup 2011 that Taranaki businesses need to be aware of.
These range from limited and approved use of the Tournament’s branding to the Major Events Management Act, which sets laws around ambush marketing, unofficial disclaimers, ticket scalping and pitch invasions.
