Gardener - Pukeiti (x2)
We have two gardening vacancies at Pukeiti, one for a gardener with nationally recognised qualifications (Tuesday – Saturday) and the other for a part-qualified or studying gardener (Monday to Friday, with a rostered Sunday every four weeks). Candidates interested in an apprenticeship may be considered for the latter role. Both these roles will work alongside the wider garden team to undertake garden maintenance and development activities at Pukeiti.
Gardener - Tupare
The Gardener – Tupare (Thursday - Monday) will assist with the development and maintenance of Tupare. The successful candidate will ideally hold a nationally recognised qualification in horticulture or landscaping and be able to utilise the skills and knowledge gained from study and relevant work experience to add value to the Tupare gardening team.
For all roles, successful candidates will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
• Practical experience in gardens maintenance as tasks will include hands-on gardening, including weeding, pruning and general garden maintenance
• Previous experience in a gardening role where you had responsibility for regularly communicating with the public
• The ability to liaise with visitors, welcoming them to the garden and communicating the stories and history associated with the respective property, and assist with the facilitation of events and functions held at the garden
• Knowledge of trees and plants, both native and exotic.
Innovation and self motivation is required, together with a good level of fitness and an ability to do some heavy lifting. A current driver’s licence is essential.
