In this varied and demanding role, you will be responsible for the inspection, monitoring and reporting of authorised industrial and agricultural discharges, together with responding to complaints about water, air and soil pollution and unauthorised discharges, and implementing enforcement action as appropriate. Your excellent communication and negotiation skills will come to the fore advising, advocating and educating the public and resource users on the sustainable and safe use of Taranaki’s natural resources.   Critical to your success will be the ability to investigate and report on applications for consents, together with strong computer literacy.

Applicants will demonstrate experience in either farming or industrial practice, particularly in the treatment and disposal methods for agricultural and industrial wastes, ideally reinforced with a relevant tertiary qualification. Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Biosecurity Act 1993 would be an advantage. A current driver’s licence for a manual vehicle is essential.
