We are seeking a GP to take up a full time practice here in New Plymouth as follows. New Plymouth has proximity to skiing in Mount Taranaki (1/2 an hour's drive) and the surf (the sea being 5 minutes' drive away).
Being a relatively small city, travelling from one place to another is usually 5 - 10 minutes. The lifestyle is relaxed and there is a great range of outdoor activities including an award winning coastal walkway. There is also unique arts and culture and the people are very friendly and hospitable. We have just been awarded the honour of being best NZ city to live in by the prestigous national magazine "North & South" beating Christchrch into second place and Wellington / Auckland into joint third!! We can offer employment to a doctor to work approx 20 hours in a small General Practice Clinic (Mangorei Medical Clinic) and up to 20 hours in an Accident and Medical Clinic (Phoenix Urgent Doctors), per week (with additional hours available). Both premises are within close proximity of each other and the main city centre. We can offer a contract for one year, which can be extended. (Alternatively one of our resident doctors here could take up the GP role at Mangorei if you have a doctor interested in working full time only at our Accident and Medical Clinic) Mangorei Medical Clinic is a small General Practice and would be sole charge for the new GP.
We have full time receptionist / admin support and a part time Registered Nurse working at the Practice. We currently have a small loyal patient base and are one of the only practices in town still accepting new patients on our register so there is great potential to grow the practice and include any specialities of the GP's preference. Phoenix Urgent Doctors is like a walk-in Family Practice, rather than an Accident and Emergency Clinic per se.
The hospital is about 4 minutes away and acute patients are usually sent there - the nurses and doctors at Phoenix have a very good rapport with the A & E department at the hospital. For further details please contact the Practice Manager.
