ExporTar workshop: The Value Of Intellectual Property Back to 'Taranaki News'
11th May 2010

This two-hour workshop, fully subsidised by Venture Taranaki and TechNZ, will investigate the value of protecting intellectual property (IP) developed from R&D projects in both NZ and export markets.

Protected IP can be a very valuable asset, securing a position in a market and providing a potential revenue stream. IP protection can however also be a very expensive exercise and the options available should be fully researched before the investment is made.
While there are no patent attorneys based in Taranaki, there are a number of IP lawyers, commercial lawyers and new product development experts who can provide advice on your IP strategy. A number of patent attorneys from outside the province also regularly do business with Taranaki companies.
A selection of these experts will speak to you about their take on “the value of IP” and there will also be an opportunity to put any questions on IP you have to them in an open forum. TechNZ will also advise what funding assistance is available for companies to carry out R&D projects and to investigate their IP options.

Venue:
Quality Hotel Plymouth International Thursday
Date and time: 27 May 2010 1pm – 3pm, followed by afternoon tea
RSVP to: Venture Taranaki, tel (06) 759 5150, email deborah@venture.org.nz by Monday 24 May 2010
