Over the last few months Venture Taranaki have been working with AA Tourism to create a joint venture whereby the Taranaki Visitor Guide and the AA Visitor Guide will become a single publication.

In the past both Venture Taranaki through TGM Design and AA have published separate guides, essentially targeting the same market, but potentially costing Taranaki tourism businesses two sets of advertising costs.

By uniting the two publications you will be able to reduce your cost or increase your profile for the same cost, and also benefit from greater market penetration of the publication, as the guide will be distributed through AA’s distribution network, which includes:

·         Increased distribution quantities of the new-look range of Taranaki Regional Visitor Guides, titled ‘Go See Discover Stay’ (200,000 copies)
·         All Accommodation and Leisure Combo advertisers receive a listing on www.aatravel.co.nz. This listing includes a standard information page with up to 6 images and a 150 word description.
·         All Qualmark-rated advertisers receive a free repeat of their ad in the 2011 Qualmark North Island Travel Guide.
·         All advertisers receive a free listing on http://www.aamaps.co.nz and all Leisure advertisers receive a free listing on www.bookabach.co.nz.
·         All Accommodation and Leisure advertisers have the opportunity to repeat their advert in 19,000 copies of the North Island Rental Car Directory (Budget, Hertz, Thrifty, Jucy, About New Zealand, Go Rentals and Omega) and/or 39,000 copies of the NZ Campervan/Motorhome Directory (Maui, Britz, Backpacker, Explore More, Apollo, Kea, Jucy, United and Adventure).

Another advantage to Taranaki tourism operators is that the joint venture between AA Tourism and Venture Taranaki provides extended market reach.

·         The combined AA Member audience of New Zealand and Australia is currently 7.7 million. The range of Travel Publications is directly marketed to this audience via the various Club Magazines, websites and other member communications including email. With the recent merger of AA Tourism and AAA Tourism in Australia, there is the ability to further enhance the visibility and accessibility of your business to this large visitor market.
·         The New Zealand Publications are distributed through 5,000 outlets and locations including AA Centres, the i-SITE Network, key tourist locations including selected airports and through the advertiser network.
·         The AA Travel Directories are distributed throughout New Zealand’s leading motorhome, campervan and rental car companies, with Australia being the key international market but with a very heavy focus on the domestic market, particularly in the shoulder season.

In addition to this, there will be even more information and maps to entice out of region visitors to make Taranaki a ‘must do’.

During the next few weeks Lynne Graham, the AA Tourism Territory Manager for Taranaki, who has worked in the region for 8 years, will start working on the joint 2011 edition.

Lynne will be out on the road calling on all operators, so expect a phone call from her to set up a convenient time to call.

“I am very passionate about Taranaki as a region and am fully committed to working with Venture Taranaki to produce the very best regional visitor guide ever. I am confident the new-look Taranaki Visitor Guide will capture the essence of Taranaki and inspire travellers to want to visit Taranaki and discover just why it is a region like no other” says Lynne.

This joint venture is a first for New Zealand, and has been specifically created to provide the region’s tourism operators with a simpler model to get more exposure for a lower investment.
