Venture Taranaki is taking an innovative approach to attract skilled British workers to Taranaki's businesses with a virtual presence for the region at the upcoming Emigrate expos being held early next month in Sandown and Glasgow.
Rather than sending staff, the region is being represented by a jobs board - a billboard for the region that features the best of Taranaki's lifestyle and employment opportunities and lists 25 jobs from 7 different employers - and associated advertising.
“This is a way to maintain Taranaki's presence in the UK employment market," says Venture Taranaki project manager Carrie Thorne.
"Presenting the region's fantastic lifestyle and current job vacancies to an audience looking at overseas options is a crucial step in meeting Taranaki's future skills needs. Doing this in an innovative and cost effective way is also an important consideration in the current post-recessionary climate."
"Through the jobs board and a range of supporting advertising we will be heavily promoting the Taranaki Jobs website as the point of contact with the region. It's therefore very important that any Taranaki business with a current vacancy lists it on the Jobs website - www.taranaki.info/jobs ," Carrie says.
The website also has information and resources for anyone looking to move to the region, from overseas and elsewhere in New Zealand.
