Venture Taranaki will again be administrating the Ministry of Science and Innovation’s Undergraduate Internship fund for the region.
The programme encourages innovative companies to employ undergraduate students enrolled in a science, technology or engineering degree to work on a research and development project. Positions are available during university summer holidays, from November 2011 to February 2012.
This contestable fund is a chance for Taranaki businesses to engage with our future innovators, and gives students the opportunity to develop their technical skills working in a commercial research environment, whilst giving businesses the added value of their expertise.
Funding is available to larger companies that run internship programmes, as well as smaller companies that are developing their first innovative project. The fund opens in September and covers an hourly rate for the student. Businesses do not need to have a student recruited before applying.
