Technology Transfer Vouchers are targeted at high-value manufacturing and services sectors, and aim to increase the transfer of technology and knowledge between research organisations and businesses, and strengthen the links between the two.
Technology Transfer vouchers provide 50% funding towards research and development (R&D) projects to enable a business to access research services and expertise from accredited research organisations.
By linking up with these research organisations you could accelerate your business growth and foster ongoing R&D links.
The funding is available for businesses requiring R&D expertise in high value manufacturing and services in these areas:
- Novel materials, manufacturing and applications
- Health and medical technologies
- Information, communications and digital technologies
Vouchers can be used with the following accredited R&D partners:
- Auckland University of Technology
- Industrial Research Limited
- University of Auckland
- University of Canterbury
- University of Otago
- Wellington Institute of Technology
Typically vouchers range from $30,000 to $1 million.
The Technology Transfer Voucher cannot be used for:
- Standard training courses
- Software purchases
- Design and production of advertising materials
- Sales activities
- Business plans and economic appraisals
- IP licensing
- Website development and online optimisation

- Apply for funding
- Funding decision is made
- If successful, a contract is established
